What's New At Good Old Boat

Back issues on the spot!

If you need a back issue immediately, we can handle it. We now sell the first 69 issues of Good Old Boat as downloadable back issues for $8 each. Or you can buy an entire year's worth (years 1998 through 2009) for $19.95. If you're searching for specific articles or topics this index of all our issues should be useful.

Good Old Boat tote

GOB Boat tote

We couldn't resist ordering sturdy tote bags with our name on them. We've tested our bag already on walks to the boat from the grocery store and when hauling gear back and forth. It's the right size for just about anything and the natural beige-colored canvas with navy straps doesn't show the dirt that comes with setting it down on docks and stuffing it into musty lockers. Only $15 on our Logo Clothing page.

Did-'em-ourselves videos

Good Old Boat video

We hope you've discovered our growing library of short videos. In the spirit of do-it-yourself projects everywhere, we did 'em ourselves and they're about do-it-yourself projects, sailboats, and life aboard. Our newest video is from the 2011 Annapolis Boat Show and highlights several of the great volunteers who helped out in the
Good Old Boat booth this year.

We have also posted a couple of slide shows of the highlights of the editors' three-month sailing sabbatical in the summer of 2010: a loon territorial faceoff and an unexpected encounter with the tall ship Europa.

Our expanding series of videos includes Dock Walks featuring special boats we find on the docks where we sail, Boat Projects with a focus on the DIY projects we do on our boats, and Cooking on a Hook with an emphasis on simple cooking in small spaces.

If you have discovered video cameras and editing and want to contribute your own videos, please contact Michael Facius.

MORE T-SHIRTS?

We Ain't Leanin' t-shirt

We now have 8 styles of T-shirts. The three brand-newest of the new are shown here. They are: "We Ain't Leanin' Till Someone's Screamin'" in a radical red, "Sailing is Life. The Rest is Just Details," in a knock-em out deep teal, and a plain and simple (tasteful and understated, you know) Good Old Boat logo on a gray shirt, just perfect for doing boatwork. Who'll know? A little grease or oil will blend right in!

Sailing Is Life t-shirt

Since we're selling them, we've been taking a "popularity poll" of sorts based on shirt orders. Among those who are voting with their pocketbook, the current favorite T-shirt is our "To Sail or Not to Sail -- What a Stupid Question" in khaki. This is followed by the "Are We There Yet? -- Who Cares?" shirt in a medium blue color called "iris." We also like the sunny yellow shirt that says "Gone Sailing. Will Return WheNEVER." That one is in the number-three position in the pocketbook popularity poll. But watch out for the three new shirts. They're going to start moving to the front of the pack.

Gray GOB Logo t-shirt

The other all-time favorites (dare we say classics?) are "Wind. The Free, Clean, Fun Fuel for Your Boat" in serene green and our "Will Work for Boat Parts" T-shirt on white.

To order any of these shirts, or our logo ball cap and demin shirt, please visit our online Books and Gear page.
